Training courses in business and professional development have been used by companies and organizations for many years to educate and train their staff. Individuals who are trying to improve their professional and personal skills can also take these courses. The most common courses that are available are general management courses, leadership trainings and team building workshops. Also offered are courses in time and resource management, marketing, retailing, logistics, negotiation, interpersonal communication skills seminars and so much more. Anger management and stress management seminars are also popular not only with organizations but with individuals as well.

Training courses vary depending on the needs of the organization. In the healthcare sector for example, training in health, safety and sanitation are a must for every employee. In the food industry sector, employees are trained about good manufacturing practices. These trainings have to be complied with to continue in business. In the legal sector, a continuing legal education program is a requirement to continue practicing the profession. In the information technology sector, seminars and presentations about new software and new cost effective and time saving products are always available. IT officers and technicians of large or small corporations or organizations are required to attend these seminars to further improve their system or computer network. In the finance sector, accounting personnel are trained to use the latest accounting software for better performance and productivity.

Training courses for entrepreneurs, specifically “starting a business” courses are widely available. They provide technical training for various types of small businesses, such as a small gift shop, pet shop, laundry shop, travel and tours, sanitation business and small scale meat and food processing businesses. Add to this is the ever popular food cart and coffee shop business. Trainings on managing a small work force or basic human resource management skills are included. Workshops on processing licenses and compliance with legal requirements for starting the business are integrated in these courses as well. Facilitators and resource persons usually provide an after training consultation service to ensure the success of the business.

Some training courses for arts and crafts are also offered. They are most attractive to hobbyists and retired persons who are looking for a productive way to spend their spare time. Hobbies such as fishing, gardening, hunting and cooking are the most popular, as well as crocheting, candle making, soap making, jewelry making and wine making. Also included in this area, are courses for talent development such as singing dancing and playing musical instruments.
