Telecommunications Jobs Information

Telecommunications refers to the exchange or transmission over long distances of information by means of electronic devices and other means. Telecommunications includes transmission of information through television, radio, telegraph, telephone and the internet. The telecommunications industry provides services to every individual and household, as well as offices and businesses through their cellular phones, personal computers and other electronic devices. The most common household items where telecommunication service is supplied are the wired telephone, radio and cable television. To this date, broadcasting still comprises the largest share in telecommunications services.

Another sector of telecommunications is the wireless service. These include mobile phone services, broadband and wireless internet services. Nowadays, almost every person has a mobile phone or has access to the internet. There is a constantly rising demand for telecommunications services in this sector. As technology becomes cheaper and better, access to the internet has become available to more and more people around the world. With this comes the demand for technical and repair services as well as software and hardware installation services.

Satellite communications is another sector. It is more commonly used in satellite television and is closely associated with wired cable television services. Government offices and private entities also use satellites for transmission of data. GPS devices found in our cars and mobile phones are services included in satellite communications.

Since the invention of fiber optics, telecommunications services have dramatically improved making transmission of information faster, more capable and cheaper. Through fiber optics, telecommunications companies are able to transmit larger quantities of signals or data.

Some of the occupations involved in the telecommunications industry are the installers, maintenance personnel, repairmen, programmers, software engineers, consultants and analysts, computer hardware technicians and many more. Some software companies operate twenty four hours daily to provide after sales service and software maintenance to clients. Those assigned in installations work long hours installing wired or wireless internet connections to households and businesses. Repairmen work under any work condition, may it be rain or shine, and have to respond quickly to an emergency. This job is a high risk job which involves climbing on poles and roofs. Programmers are experts in computer language and are skilled in writing computer programs. They are found in small firms or large software corporations. Computer hardware technicians are involved in fixing or replacing the hardware in desktops, laptops and other computer devices. They replace hard disks and other parts in our computers. In every business organization with a server or computer network, there is always a computer hardware technician available to troubleshoot problems. They perform diagnosis of common problems and provide immediate technical support to avoid disruption of business operations.
