Skilled labor trades are those associated with the construction industry. A high school diploma is required to qualify for a technical training course.

Fatality is higher in these fields than other skilled labor trades. Other specialized fields where the risk is high are dynamite or explosives technicians, miners and oil drillers. Workers in sanitation and sewerage are paid higher as well because of the risk of contracting bacteria and other harmful and noxious substances.

Some skilled labor trades require a license before you can start working. Electricians, plumbers and those engaged in specialty fields are some of the trades that require a license. Depending on the requirements of the state where you want to practice your field, a skills and aptitude test is usually given. The worker has to pass these tests before he can obtain a license.
