In a nutshell, a marketing job in its simplest form is about selling one company’s product or services. However, as diversified as the term implies, marketing can mean more than that. Although the end result of any marketing initiative is to sell a certain product or services, marketing jobs may entail more than the selling part which is usually the last part of the marketing process.

Marketing jobs may vary depending on one’s expertise and general interest. From the conceptualization of the product up to disposing it for consumption, marketing is involved. There are two sides of marketing when we speak of areas in one company, the income generating and the cost center. Marketing jobs that are income generators are the ones that are usually seen by the consumers. The cost center jobs are those people that work behind the scene and normally involved in conceptualization, design and planning. Since marketing varies in function, any type of person will find something of relevance from this area. There will be something for everybody.

If you have a flare for creating new things, likes to do research and would want to make solution to problems that you find relevant for a certain need, you may be fit for a jobs in the initial stage of marketing. As a company tries to look at the possibility of offering new products to a certain market niche for the purpose of having a new offering or as an improvement to an existing product, a team will be task to come up with a concept in which a new product will be developed. It will involve a detailed task of conceptualizing up to planning and eventually selling the product to the market. It will contain research, feasibility study, marketing plans, investment study and the marketing proper. This team will be the backbone of the product or services that will hit the market. Through this team, it will be known whether the product will be accepted by the consumer, how and why. As hindsight, people that will most probably do well in this field are those that are artistic, creative, analytical and inventive.

People who love to talk with people, out-going and are good listener will be great in sales. The last step in marketing wherein all the investment of the company will be realized is through sales. In here, the company will find out, by profit, if the product they are offering will be accepted by the consumer.
