The facilities jobs handle the maintenance of a building. They also manage the amenities as well as the services that the building is offering. Most of the facility workers are employed in schools, hospitals, hotel, office buildings, convention centers, resorts, apartments or condominiums and so forth. They are the one responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of the facilities and the premises as well as making the necessary repairs within the building or its vicinity in order that the building will function accordingly. Such repairs may either be changing the lighting or repairing leaky pipes and so forth.

The two important people in facilities jobs are the facility workers and the facility supervisor or manager. The facility worker ones who usually do the dirty jobs of maintenance such as mopping the floors, changing the light fixture, fixing the leaky pipes or repairing the carpet and so forth therefore one must have the necessary skills to do the job right otherwise the building facility may be in bad space without them. Furthermore, they also must be flexible and a quick worker as well, since normally they will receive calls from several clients or tenants at the same time. Leaving the job hanging in one can terribly cause negative impression on the facility management team. Usually facility workers are required to have at least a high school diploma while some has an associate degree or vocational degree related to such occupation such as electrician and so forth. On the other hand, the facility supervisor or manager is the one who oversee the operations of the building as well as the renovations of the building in order to make sure that the building is safe from any debris falling which may hurt the tenants or the building’s clients. He is also in-charge with overseeing the works done by his staff with repairs, cleaning and so forth. Usually a facility officer must have a bachelor degree in facility management or any related field such as engineering or architecture. A good facility officer must have a good communication skill and must be personable with regards to his staff and employees.

This is one avenue of work wherein people have overlooked throughout the years. The facilities jobs on both job descriptions are beginning to increase in demand simply because more and more facilities are being built worldwide which needs experienced people to keep, maintain and manage as well.
