Admin – clerical jobs generally fall under the administrative work category. This is how it is described on the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Jobs such as company clerks, administrative secretaries and receptionists are considered clerical or administrative. There’s a common notion that clerical jobs pay less than other positions but this is not entirely true since admin jobs can lead to a much higher level positions within a firm depending on an employee’s performance.

Admin - clerical jobs can mean particular tasks which normally include the following: record-keeping, some accounting, filing, employee correspondence, and at time, customer service. Clerical employees can also be assigned to do front-desk work such as guest relation, telephone management as well as managing the use of office supplies.

There are different types of admin-clerical jobs available ranging from office support staff, receptionists, administrative clerks, research assistants to office administrator, concierge relation offices, and data entry clerks. These examples do not totally represent or comprise a whole list of clerical job related titles because each type of entity or industry is varied, broad and completely diverse. Most people think that the clerical setting in an office pertains to an environment similar to a repair shop for instance, but this is not always the case since there is a vast opportunities available for this type of job.

A person who works in an admin field can gain an experience and use this as leverage to further advance his or her position in the company. For instance, an office secretary can come from a clerical post. It is not also impossible than a clerical employee can become an administrative assistant or executive secretary. In the same way, file clerks can be promoted to receptionists or bookkeeping clerks while hotel front desk officers can move up a ladder and become managers.

Unlike other white collar jobs, admin-clerical jobs do not require steep qualifications. A high school diploma or training certification can suffice. One may be able to fulfil various types of admin works through on-the-job trainings and other skills workshops. Perhaps one of the basic important skills that a clerk must have is the ability to do computer works. Other clerical jobs require some sets of skills. A customer care specialist, for example, should be able to interact with individuals in a professional and friendly way. If a regular office clerk has any plans to advance in the administrative field, he or she may need to pursue additional education.
